APPLY FOR THE UNIVERSITY OF LAUSANNE UNIL SUMMER UNIVERSITY RESEARCH PROGRAM (SUR) IN SWITZERLAND. SUR LASTS UP TO 8 WEEKS IN JULY AND AUGUST AND HOSTS ABOUT 15 UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS WITH A BACHELOR’S DEGREE FROM BIOLOGICAL AND MEDICAL STUDIES BACKGROUNDS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. EACH PARTICIPANT WILL CONDUCT AN INDIVIDUAL RESEARCH PROJECT IN A DIFFERENT LABORATORY OF THE FACULTY OF BIOLOGY AND MEDICINE. THE PROGRAM WELCOMES STUDENTS STUDYING FOR A BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN ANY FIELD OF LIFE SCIENCES, AS WELL AS THOSE PURSUING MEDICAL STUDIES.
THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE PROGRAM IS TO ATTRACT ENTHUSIASTIC STUDENTS FROM NEARBY TO GET A RESEARCH EXPERIENCE THAT WILL STAY WITH THEM FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES. DURING THE PROGRAM, AS MUCH AS YOU WILL SPEND MOST OF YOUR TIME IN THE HOST LABORATORY, YOU WILL MEET EACH WEEK WITH YOUR FELLOW STUDENTS TOGETHER FOR JOINT ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES, OFTEN WITH EPFL SISTER PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS.
Programme activities can include introductory presentations of student research, lectures from faculty on research topics and career paths, and vocational guidance workshops in academia and beyond. At the end of the summer, students present the results of their research on a poster during a joint UN-EPFL symposium and write a final report. You will also enjoy many social activities, including alpine hiking, barbecues, lac Léman swimming and visits to other cities during your stay in Switzerland.

accepted applicants will receive the following benefits

you will receive a scholarship of up to 1500 swiss francs to cover your living expenses during the program.

THE PROGRAM COORDINATOR WILL ARRANGE AND PAY FOR YOUR HOUSING. IN AN APARTMENT FURNISHED BY AN UNIL ASSOCIATION, IN A SINGLE ROOM WITH A SHARED KITCHEN AND BATHROOM.

additional funds will be made available to cover justified travel costs to lausanne for any amount up to 500 swiss francs for european travel, covering 1,200 swiss francs for travel abroad.

the programme will also provide assistance to all students requiring visas to travel to switzerland.
eligibility criteria:

the program usually invites students of any nationality, and study in any country in an accredited institution.

you must currently be a student halfway through a bachelor’s degree in any biological or medical field.

applicants who have completed only one year of bachelor’s degree. or, she is currently in her final year not eligible. master’s degree is not eligible.

Candidates are required to prove an excellent academic record usually GPA >3.75 or its equivalent, and/or the highest 5% category rating and provide personal support data and recommendation letters.
