Applications are now open for submission to Arizona State University/Baobab Scholarship for Digital Innovation 2023/2024 for MasterCard Foundation. In partnership with the MasterCard Foundation, Arizona State University will provide graduate scholarships to train 25 young African professionals at master’s level for various programs over a 4-year period (2021-2025).

This scholarship program is located within EdPlus, a central institutional unit of Arizona State University, focused on the design and scalable implementation of digital teaching and learning models to increase student success and reduce barriers to achievement in higher education.

While attending classes, scholars have the opportunity to work part-time with the Baobab team to gain hands-on experience in implementing the strategic goals of the Baobab platform. The Baobab platform consists of implementing an online learning community that will eventually include more than 70,000 aspiring young African leaders around the world. Between the first and second years, scholars will be supported to participate in a two-month internship in Africa aligned with their program of study.

Eligibility Requirements for the MasterCard Foundation Scholarship

Applicants must apply for one of the eligible programs listed above or mastercard foundation scholarship application form pdf Applicants must be academically qualified for admission to the degree of their choice, which includes a high level of English language proficiency.
Applicants must be citizens of an African country.
Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old on or before the application deadline.
Applicants must demonstrate a proven track record of leadership and service in their community.
Applicants must present economically disadvantaged financial circumstances, and be able to demonstrate a lack of financial resources from family or other sources to pursue higher education in their home country or elsewhere.

Applicants must have obtained an undergraduate degree with a minimum of 4 years of study.
Applicants must not have commenced or completed other graduate degrees before August 2023.
Applicants must be able to live in Phoenix, Arizona for the duration of the program.

Apply for the MasterCard Foundation Scholarship

All applicants are advised to apply for the scholarship first and, if successful, will be assisted in the application process for admission to ASU. Interviews will be conducted via video or phone call during November 2022, with final decisions made by February 2023. All successful applicants will travel to Phoenix, Arizona to join the program in July 2023.
