APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN FOR GSK GRANTS TO FUTURE HEALTH LEADERS 2022-2023.
THESE HIGHLY COMPETITIVE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE TO APPLICANTS WHO INTEND TO STUDY IN THE LONDON-BASED ONE-YEAR FULL-TIME (FACE TO FACE) DEGREE PROGRAMME AT THE LONDON SCHOOL OF HYGIENE AND TROPICAL MEDICINE (LSHTM).

three scholarships are available for the 2022-2023 academic year. each grant covers:

tuition fees, including any mandatory fees for the field trip, and
-
salary with tax exemption (living allowance) of £17,633.00.

eligibility criteria

in order for applicants to be eligible for these grants, applicants must:

to be citizens and residents of sub-saharan africa;
-
INTENDS TO RETURN TO SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA WHEN THE MSC YEAR IS COMPLETED IN LSHTM; AND
-
confirm that they will not be able to pay for the proposed study programme by submitting the supplementary question form;

MEET LSHTM’S MINIMUM ENGLISH REQUIREMENTS;

hold a first class at the level of the second-class first or upper-class equation, and
-
The admission offer was held for 2022-23 for one of the London-based LSHTM 19 MSc study programmes.
applicants who demonstrate (in their application documents) will be given preference to the possibility of making significant contributions to public health and/or health-related research in africa.

how to apply?
the application process is two steps. in order to consider funding, applicants must meet all eligibility criteria and complete the steps outlined below by the grant deadline of 23:59 (gmt) on sunday, 27 february 2022.

Step 1
Is to apply for the 2022-2023 London-based MSc Study Program, as instructed under the “How to Apply” tab on the relevant study program page.

step 2
is to apply for scholarships online, and choose this grant option from the drop-down list. a complete supplementary question form for this grant must be downloaded as part of this application. this is the only facility required in step 2 (where applicants already had to submit references; texts; resumes, etc. with their application for study).

APPLICANTS ARE ADVISED TO COMPLETE STEP 1 EARLY TO ALLOW TIME TO PROCESS THE PAYMENT OF LSHTM’S ADMISSION APPLICATION FEE OF £50.00. UNTIL THE PAYMENT IS PROCESSED, APPLICANTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO APPLY FOR STUDY. WE THEREFORE RECOMMEND THAT APPLICANTS COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATIONS FOR STUDY AT LEAST ONE TO TWO WEEKS BEFORE THE SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE TO ENSURE THAT THERE IS NO DELAY IN ADMISSION OR PAYMENT PROCESSING, WHICH MAY AFFECT THE MEETING OF THE SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE. (WHERE POSSIBLE, WE ENCOURAGE APPLICANTS TO APPLY FOR FULL STUDY AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, TO ALLOW TIMELY TREATMENT.)

Each applicant must apply for only one GSK grants for future health leaders for 2022-2023. We therefore encourage applicants to carefully verify their online application and facility before applying, as the first application submitted will be the one being considered and there will be no opportunity to download the supplementary question form after submission.

Applicants who have already applied for msc completed 2022-23 based in London and/or have submitted an admission offer must apply for the grant by completing the scholarship application only (step 2 above) and submitting this by the scholarship deadline.

INCOMPLETE REQUESTS FOR SUCH FUNDING WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. INCOMPLETE APPLICATIONS INCLUDE THOSE CONTAINING SUPPLEMENTARY DOCUMENTS MISSING IN STEPS 1 AND 2 ABOVE. BOTH THE APPLICATION AND THE APPLICATION OF THE SCHOLARSHIP MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE GRANT DEADLINE. APPLICANTS MUST ENSURE THAT ALL NECESSARY SUPPLEMENTARY DOCUMENTS (INCLUDING REFERENCES) ARE SUBMITTED THROUGH THE LSHTM ADMISSIONS PORTAL BY THE SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE.

These grants are open to applicants for any of LSHTM’s 19 Master of Non-Distance Learning Programs (including our joint programs: Master of Global Mental Health; Master of Mental Health; Master of Mental Health; MSc Health Policy, Planning and Finance; MSc Health One; MSc Veterinary Epidemiology).

Please note that for the following programs you will be directed to your joint service provider to complete your application for study because LSHTM does not manage admission to these courses: MSc Global Mental Health; MSc Health One: Ecosystems, Humans and Animals; MSc Veterinary Epidemiology.

APPLICANTS WHOSE APPLICATION FOR STUDY SUCCEEDS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A DEPOSIT WITHIN 28 DAYS OF SENDING THE ADMISSION OFFER. APPLICANTS FOR LSHTM SCHOLARSHIPS MUST SEND AN EMAIL TO THE ADMISSIONS TEAM TO REPORT THAT THEY ARE AWAITING THE OUTCOME OF THE SCHOLARSHIP (APPLICANTS MUST PROVIDE THE ADMISSIONS TEAM WITH THE NAME OF THE GRANT AND THE EXPECTED DECISION DATE IN THIS EMAIL). THIS MUST BE REPEATED FOR EACH APPLICATION THAT THE APPLICANT HAS APPLIED FOR. THE ADMISSIONS TEAM WILL THEN EXTEND THE FILING DEADLINE TO MATCH THE DEADLINE FOR THE SCHOLARSHIP FUNDING DECISION.
