Branco Weiss Fellowship – Society in Science is a community of exceptional young scientists who share a passion for taking research beyond the mainstream. Colleagues are given the means to pursue their personal vision of a particular scientific project independently – in the best possible locations, anywhere in the world
the main objective:
The fellowship is awarded to post-doctoral researchers for up to five years. As it continues after promotion, some colleagues become faculty members during their fellowship. Besides the passion for research itself, branco Weiss’s colleagues and graduates share a tendency to communicate outside their field of study and with society as a whole.
The fellowship is designed to support postdoctoral researchers after phD. And before their first appointment to the faculty. The goal is to award up to ten fellowships each year. Researchers pursuing unconventional projects outside the mainstream of science, engineering and social sciences may come forward. Those in current postdoctoral positions are also qualified.

Branco Weiss’s fellowship consists of 100.00 Swiss francs per year. It can be used to cover all legitimate research costs (e.g. salary and/or equipment, travel expenses, consumables, employees, etc.). Financial support is provided to colleagues in the form of a project grant. This is managed by the host organization through a tripartite contractual agreement between the fellow, the selected institution and ETH Zurich. Overheads must be covered by the host organization.)

may 2022: send a notification and invitation for an interview for the final selection of candidates; send notification to candidates whose applications have been rejected. june 2022: interviews with candidates by a committee in zurich, switzerland; final selection of colleagues. september 1 to december 31, 2022: colleagues begin research projects. research projects must be conceived to last five years.
