LPI is located near NASA’s Johnson Space Center, on the south side of Houston, Texas, so on behalf of NASA, LPI provides leadership in the scientific community to research lunar system, planetary and solar system science and connect with relevant earth programs.

NOT ONLY IS THE LPA PAID FOR, BUT IT IS A FULLY FUNDED 10-WEEK PROGRAM THAT PROVIDES SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS AFTER FINANCIAL COVERAGE.

successful applicants will receive us$7,300 to cover:

housing expenses.
the cost of living.
travel expenses. (international applicants may receive an additional us$500)
training salaries.
in addition to expenses, financial support of up to us$1,000 (for local travellers) and up to $1,500 (for international travellers) is provided to trainees who provide an acceptable summary as the first author of the upcoming planetary and moon science conference.

the selection will be made on the following basis:

scholarships and curricula.
experience.
professional goals and scientific interests.
the applicant’s interest matches an available research project.
the result will be announced in march 2022 and students will be notified. students who have been notified will be asked to respond within two working days. if the reply is not received, the request will not be considered.

eligibility criteria

• students must be qualified enough to meet the following conditions:

  LPI provides 50 classroom hours for the work of moon and planetary science, students must intend to attend all hours with respect.
  Students with a major in physics, mathematics, computer science or engineering have an advantage, but any qualified student can apply.
  Foreign nationals will be required to submit IELTS, TOEFL or English proficiency degrees from any university professor, supporting the fact that the student is an English
  speaker or writer.
  Students must be university students.

You will need to apply using the online application form. Paper applications will not be accepted.
Once you start the app, you must complete all the questions in the form, including article style questions.
Texts and letters of recommendation
can be submitted independently but must be submitted received by November 23, 2020, at 11:59 pm CET
upon submission, you will receive an email confirmation with your application number and a link to view the status of your reference letters. You are required to submit three reference letters to qualify for the program.
The applicant’s college registrar must send an
official copy to LPI Summer Intern Program, Application #, 3600 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, TX 77058-1113.
If you are a foreign citizen, you will be asked to provide proof of English proficiency.
This may be in the form of an English as a Foreign Language Test (TOEFL), an International English Testing System (IELTS) degree, or a letter from a professor in your university’s English department confirming that you have enough english speaking and writing skills to successfully participate in our training program.
Be sure to include your application number in the address you submit to your registrar.
Texts must be received by LPI no later than November 23, 2020, at 11:59 p.m. CST.
