successful applicants will receive us$7,300 to cover:

in addition to expenses, financial support of up to us$1,000 (for local travellers) and up to $1,500 (for international travellers) is provided to trainees who provide an acceptable summary as the first author of the upcoming lunar and planetary science conference.

LPI IS LOCATED NEAR NASA’S JOHNSON SPACE CENTER, ON THE SOUTH SIDE OF HOUSTON, TEXAS, SO ON BEHALF OF NASA, THE LPI INSTITUTE PROVIDES LEADERSHIP IN THE SCIENTIFIC COMMUNITY TO RESEARCH LUNAR, PLANETARY AND SOLAR SYSTEM SCIENCE AND CONNECT WITH RELEVANT EARTH PROGRAMS.
LPI SUMMER TRAINING:
LPI IS A PAID SUMMER TRAINING PROGRAM IN PLANETARY SCIENCE THAT PROVIDES UNDERGRADUATES WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN, EARN, RESEARCH AND SEEK HELP FROM PROFESSIONAL PLANETARY SCIENTISTS. DURING THE 10-WEEK TRAINING PERIOD, STUDENTS WILL PARTICIPATE IN SOCIAL ACTIVITIES, NASA VISITS, LECTURES AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS. THE APPOINTMENT OF APPLICANTS WILL BE CONSIDERED WITHOUT REGARD TO RACE, CREED, COLOR, GENDER, NATIONAL ORIGIN, AGE, DISABILITY STATUS OR FACTORS OTHER THAN MERIT.
ABOUT LPI:
The LPI Summer paid program for planetary science interns provides undergraduates with the opportunity to conduct the latest peer-reviewed research, learn from widely respected planetary scientists, and discover exciting jobs in planetary science. During the 10-week training period, students had the opportunity to participate in enrichment activities, including scientific visits, lectures and career development workshops for NASA’s Johnson Space Center. The application door is wide open so read the eligibility criteria and register yourself.

students are required to be qualified enough to meet the following conditions:

LPI PROVIDES 50 CLASSROOM HOURS FOR LUNAR SCIENCE AND PLANETARY WORK, AND STUDENTS MUST RESPECTFULLY ATTEND ALL HOURS.

students who have a major in physics, mathematics, computer science or engineering have an advantage but any qualified student can apply.

FOREIGN NATIONALS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT IELTS, TOEFL OR ENGLISH PROFICIENCY CERTIFICATE FROM ANY UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR, SUPPORTING THE FACT THAT THE STUDENT IS PROFICIENT

when applying, you will receive an email confirmation message with your application number and a link to view the status of your reference messages. you must send three reference letters to qualify for the program.
The applicant’s college
registrar may send an official copy to the LPI Summer Apprentice Program, Application #, 3600 Bay Area Boulevard, Houston, TX 77058-1113.
if you are a foreign citizen, you will be asked to provide proof of english proficiency.
THIS MAY BE IN THE FORM OF AN ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE TEST (TOEFL), AN INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH TEST SYSTEM (IELTS), OR A LETTER FROM A PROFESSOR IN YOUR UNIVERSITY’S ENGLISH DEPARTMENT CONFIRMING THAT YOU HAVE SUFFICIENT SPOKEN AND WRITTEN ENGLISH SKILLS TO SUCCESSFULLY PARTICIPATE IN OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAM.
