About Peace First:
Peace First is a youth-led organization that supports young people between the ages of 13 and 25 to create a more empathetal, just and peaceful world by providing digital tools, community support, startup finance and spreading stories celebrating their social change journeys. Peace First was founded by young people in 1992 at Harvard University. The organization began its work as a model for empowering young people at school in the United States, and has since evolved into a global NGO that supports youth-led projects and connects thousands of young social change leaders from more than 150 countriesPeace First announces at the launch of the First Year Youth Challenge worldwide. Peace First challenges help young people (ages 13 to 25) create and lead projects that help eliminate injustice in their communities by empathizing with the oppressed classes and being courageous and cooperative in their defense. When you join the challenge, you will be guided through a 5-stage journey and the organization will provide useful and supportive tools for you, including training, mentoring and funding to launch a social change project in your community.

you can join the challenge with a project you’ve already created, or join the challenge to create a new project. in both cases, you’ll have access to the same tools and support to help make your project work, and you’ll be asked to send the same information about your project to receive the grant.

In order for Peace First to support your project, you must be clearly able to validate all of the following:

young people between the ages of 13 and 25 are the main decision makers of the project. this means that they have the authority to determine the objectives of the project, what actions the project team will take, and how resources are used (budgeting and approval). if adults over the age of 25 make these decisions, the project will not be considered youth-led.

young people between the ages of 13 and 25 are the main leaders of the project. this means that they do most of the work required to successfully implement the project (meeting leadership, volunteer mobilization, eventplanning, project plans writing, etc.). if adults over the age of 25 do most of this work, the project will not be considered youth-led.

Young people between the ages of 13 and 25 are participating in peace first’s programme. The program is specifically designed to help young people build agency skills and leadership. Young people should be the ones completing the peace first challenge, communicating with mentors and participating in verification/training calls.
