a brief description

Apply for the BlueBook Training Program for the European Commission in October 2022. Each year, the European Commission provides five-month paid training grants to 1,800 trainees. These training grants include management or translation positions. Training courses usually start on 1 March for the spring session and 1 October for the autumn session. The main objective of these training grants is to train trainees in practical experience in POLICY-making in the EU in a multicultural environment. Trainees work throughout the European Commission/services/agencies. Since many will be based in Brussels, others will work in Luxembourg and throughout the European Union.

for each training period, the commission’s trainees’ office determines the exact number of trainees to be attributed to each directorate general, service and agency, depending on the availability of the budget, current circumstances as well as resources.

as an intern, your daily work consists of the following:

  • you will attend and organize meetings, working groups, forums and public hearings

  • trainees will participate in research, collection of documents, reports, consultations and response to inquiries

  • it will also assume the responsibilities of managing work-related projects

for their part, the agencies you will work for expect you to have the following:

  • openness to european issues

  • interest in knowing the committee’s working methods

  • prepare to work in a multicultural environment

  • contributing to day-to-day work from a new point of view

financial benefits:

once you have selected this training, you will be eligible for the following benefits

  • you will receive a living allowance throughout the training period. the living allowance for training courses for 2021 was €1,229.23 per month.

  • trainees will also receive compensation for visa costs

  • medical fees and travel expenses can also be paid

other benefits that trainees will go home include:

  • trainees will gain full insight into the processes and policies of european institutions

  • you will have the opportunity to play a role in the day-to-day work of the committee.

  • trainees will have the opportunity to put academic theory into practice


merit – eligibility:

the training program is open to university graduates who:

  1. YOU MUST HAVE A UNIVERSITY DEGREE OR ITS EQUIVALENT, AT LEAST 3 YEARS OF STUDY OR 180 ETCS, CORRESPONDING TO A FULL COURSE (BACHELOR’S DEGREE)

  2. applicants must have very good knowledge of two official eu languages, one of which must be procedural language, i.e. english, french or german.

  3. for non-eu citizens, only one procedural language is required.

  4. THE REQUIRED LANGUAGE LEVEL IS LEVEL C ACCORDING TO THE EUROPEAN COMMON LANGUAGE REFERENCE FRAMEWORK)

  5. YOU MUST HAVE NO PREVIOUS WORK EXPERIENCE OF ANY KIND, EXCEEDING 6 WEEKS IN ANY EU INSTITUTION, BODY OR AGENCY, EU DELEGATIONS, OR WITH MEPS OR EUCJ PUBLIC DEFENDERS.

applications for the training program are submitted online using the online application portal. the app portal is now open and will be closed on january 31, 2022. you must submit the following application documents

  • photo of a valid passport/id card as proof of your nationality

  • provide copies of all university certificates you have announced to keep in your application

  • also, the texts include the university corresponding to all the grades you have completed

  • applicants can also include copies of the proof of registration in ongoing studies

  • proof of language proficiency may include:

    • language proficiency certificates

    • documented written evidence of language proficiency from language centers. language evidence should indicate the level obtained.

    • language courses at the university clearly indicate the level of

    • university courses taught in full english

  • if possible, copy all the declared practical experience. request a letter of reference from your employer, together with the company’s letter, duly signed and dated, and clearly state the working period.finally, it is important to visit the official link to the site below to access the application form.
