The scholarships are aimed at international students from any country who are not US citizens, US permanent residents, or dual citizens of the US and another country.
American University Scholarship Worth
The AU EGL scholarship covers all billable AU expenses (full tuition fees, room and board). The scholarship does not cover non-billable expenses such as mandatory health insurance, books, airline tickets, and miscellaneous expenses (approximately $4,000 USD).
Renewable for four years of undergraduate study, based on ongoing satisfactory academic performance.

Eligibility requirements for the American University Scholarship
Preference will be given to:
- The American University Scholarships is for international students who have overcome various obstacles and challenges as well as students from diverse and underrepresented global and socio-economic backgrounds.
The equivalent of a minimum GPA of 3.8 (or in the top 10% of the graduating class) for grades 9-12.
A clear commitment to leadership, volunteerism, community service and advancing the needs of people in their home country. - Students with any of the following: 95+ TOEFL iBT (all sub-score must be 20 or above); Subscore of 24+ on the paper-based TOEFL (taken after May 31, 2017); 7.0+ IELTS (all sub-score must be 6.0 or above); 33 minimum SAT reading score; 29 minimum ACT of English language; 65 minimum PTE; 120+ Duolingo (all sub-score must be 110 or higher); or a Cambridge English Assessment score of 185 or above. Each subscore must be 169 or higher.
Students who are still enrolled in high school/high school and are graduating by June 2023.
Important: Students in the IB system must plan to graduate with a full IB Diploma with 3 HL subjects. Students studying in the British A-Levels system must complete at least 3 A-levels and have completed 13 years of study before August 2023

You are not eligible to apply for an AUC scholarship if:
– If you are a US citizen, US permanent resident, or dual citizen of the US and another country.
You are enrolled in or have already started any post-secondary studies at another university in your home country or the United States.

Instructions for applying for the American University Scholarship
To apply for the AU Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship, you must apply and complete the AU EGLS Application, Joint or Coalition Application and International Admission Process by December 15, 2021 (priority deadline) or by January 15, 2023 at the latest. AU EGLS applicants must apply the Ordinary Decision for Fall (August) 2023. Early Decision (ED) does not apply.
